How to Install Kotoro
Four quick steps in Chrome on your computer. Just follow along with the pictures.
1Install from the Chrome Web Store
Click ‘Open Chrome Web Store’ below and Kotoro's store page opens in a new tab. Click the blue ‘Add to Chrome’ button, then click ‘Add extension’ in the small window that pops up.
It's free. Two clicks and you're done.
Open Chrome Web Store2Pin the cat icon with the puzzle piece
After installing, the cat icon may not show up right away. Click the puzzle piece button at the top right, at the end of the address bar. When the list of extensions opens, click the pin next to ‘Kotoro’.
When the pin turns blue, you're set! The cat icon now stays next to the address bar, ready whenever you need it.
3Click the cat icon to start
Click the cat icon you pinned to open Kotoro. The first time, click ‘Sign in with Google’, agree to the terms, and give your cat a name.
After that, just click the icon and turn on the ‘Call the cat’ switch.
4Find your cat on a regular site
The cat won't appear on the Chrome Web Store page. For your safety, Chrome blocks extensions on special pages like the Web Store, the New Tab page, and Settings. Nothing is broken! Open a regular site like Google or YouTube and the cat will hop right in.
Tabs you opened before installing may not show the cat. Press F5 to refresh them.
Still having trouble?
I can't click or find the install button
Kotoro can only be installed in Chrome on a computer. It doesn't work on phones, tablets, or Safari, so please open Chrome on your computer and try again.
I can't see the puzzle piece button
Try making the Chrome window wider. If it's still missing, open the three-dot (⋮) menu at the top right → ‘Extensions’ → ‘Manage Extensions’ and check that Kotoro is switched on.
I signed in but don't see the cat
Make sure you're not on the Chrome Web Store or a New Tab page, then refresh a regular site with F5. If the cat is still missing, click the cat icon and check that the ‘Call the cat’ switch is on.
